President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's address to the nation has begun. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The President is delivering the address not at a joint session of the Senate and Mazhilis, as before, but at a session of the newly formed unicameral parliament — the Kurultai.
The cabinet of ministers is also attending the session. Today the head of state will sum up the country's main achievements and outline the key tasks ahead.
The government will implement all of this, while the Kurultai will provide the legislative framework. The timing of this year's address has also been moved two months earlier.
Previously, Tokayev delivered all his addresses in early September at the opening of a new parliamentary session. Only in 2022 were there two addresses.
After that, this tradition did not change. It is worth noting that today's address will be broadcast live on republican television channels, as well as on the official pages of the Akorda on social media.
