President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with the Deputy General Director of Inditex Group and Director of External Relations of the company, Santiago Martínez-Lage Sobredo. The parties discussed prospects for further cooperation and expansion of the Spanish retailer's presence in Kazakhstan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Inditex Group is one of the world's largest players in the clothing retail market. The group includes brands Zara, Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti and Bershka, which are widely represented in Kazakhstan.
The head of state recalled that economic cooperation remains one of the key areas of Kazakh-Spanish relations. Currently, about 60 companies with Spanish capital operate in Kazakhstan.
The President welcomed Inditex's plans to further develop its business in the country.
"We welcome the company's intention to expand its presence in Kazakhstan and make our country the main transit and logistics hub in Central Asia," Tokayev noted.
According to the head of state, cooperation with one of the world's largest retailers may go beyond logistics.
"Over time, the company can go beyond logistics and create production facilities in the textile industry in our country," the president emphasized.
In turn, Santiago Martínez-Lage Sobredo stated that Kazakhstan remains an attractive destination for investment and business development.
He noted that favorable conditions for entrepreneurial activity have been created in the republic, and also spoke about the company's further plans in the region.
Currently, the company is forming a regional logistics hub based at the airports of Almaty and Karaganda, which should strengthen Kazakhstan's position as a transport and logistics center of Central Asia.
