Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the Decree "On the Powers of the Vice President of the Republic of Kazakhstan". This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the decree, the vice president ensures the development of strategic initiatives in the field of domestic and foreign policy of the state and presents them to the president. He also represents the president in interaction with the Kurultai, the Government and other state bodies, as well as with political parties, public associations and international organizations.

On behalf of the president, the vice president participates in international events, heads the secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, and oversees the activities of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies.

To implement the powers established by the decree, the vice president has the right to issue orders, give instructions to central and local executive bodies on issues within his competence, and participate in meetings of the Kurultai, the Government, the People's Council, and advisory bodies under the president.
