Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received the UK Minister of State for Trade, Lord Anas Sarwar. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The head of state said the country attaches particular importance to developing bilateral relations with the United Kingdom.
"Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom are linked by constructive political dialogue and active contacts at various levels. Moreover, I am confident that we have sufficient potential to further expand cooperation," said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
According to the president, the United Kingdom is one of Kazakhstan's main trade and investment partners. Last year, bilateral trade grew by 83 percent and exceeded 1.6 billion dollars. More than 500 British companies operate in the country.
"Advancing trade and economic ties requires not only new projects and investments, but also people capable of working in the international environment. That is why I call on Kazakhstan's youth to explore the world, broaden their horizons, learn many languages, and above all master English, which is a means of international communication," said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
During the meeting, the president sent warm greetings to UK Prime Minister Andrew Burnham and invited him to visit Kazakhstan.
