President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated the first Kazakh cosmonaut, People's Hero, Aviation Major General Tokhtar Aubakirov on his 80th birthday. Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov read out the president's congratulatory letter. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The president's congratulatory letter reads: "Our people especially honor you as a famous cosmonaut, prominent public figure, and patriot. Your career path consists of bright milestones. For many years you were a professional pilot, tested new military aircraft, showing an example of heroism. You became the first Kazakh to ascend into the sky. Your contribution to raising the country's prestige in the world, strengthening international cooperation, and developing the national aerospace and defense industries is immense. As a deputy of the Majilis of Parliament, you devoted your deep knowledge and life experience to improving domestic legislation. I wish you to continue to see the fruits of your labor and enjoy the respect of the people. I wish you good health, long life, and prosperity to your family."
