President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived at the Avaza complex to attend the meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council, Akorda reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

“The head of state was greeted by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov,” the statement said.

Other leaders of the Commonwealth countries are also taking part in the summit, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian for the first time.

The leaders will take a group photo and then take part in meetings that will first be held in a narrow format, then in an expanded format.

Traditionally, the narrow-format talks are attended by the heads of the Commonwealth countries and CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev.

After that, negotiations between the heads of delegations will continue in an expanded format.

For the first time in the history of the CIS, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is taking part in it.

In addition, Tokayev and Berdimuhamedov discussed the progress of implementing joint projects between the two countries.
