Kassym-Jomart Tokayev inspected the restored tram system in Temirtau. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The head of state rode the tram from Republic Avenue to the "Engineer" stop and saw the quality of the work performed and the full readiness of the updated transport infrastructure for operation.
In the city, 30 kilometers of tram tracks were restored and replaced. This allowed the tram to run stably according to schedule.
During a conversation with the management of Qarmet JSC, the president noted the importance of restoring tram service in the city of metallurgists.
"For Temirtau, the tram is like a link connecting eras. You did the right thing by fulfilling the residents' demand to restore tram service. When you first came to the plant, I said that it is imperative to deal with the improvement of the city of Temirtau. There is still a lot of work to be done, but the start is good," said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Qarmet transferred the tram to the benefit of the city's residents two years ago. Since then, this public transport has carried more than 1 million passengers.
For the convenience of passengers, an electronic payment system has been installed on the rail transport, and employees and veterans of the Qarmet enterprise ride for free.
