President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed developing a national cleanliness standard and taking the Taza Kazakhstan campaign to a new level. He stated this while speaking to participants of an environmental campaign, Akorda reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
"We cannot sit idly by and be content with what has been achieved. If we want to become a progressive country, we must move only forward. […] I consider it necessary to develop a national cleanliness standard," the president said.
Tokayev reported that since the beginning of 2026, more than 600 environmental events have been held in all regions of Kazakhstan. According to him, 7 million people took part in them, over 130,000 hectares of land were cleaned, and 1.3 million trees were planted.
The president emphasized that living conditions in clean and well-maintained settlements depend, among other things, on the behavior of residents. He named the improvement of the country, as well as the strengthening of unity and solidarity of citizens, as the goal of Taza Kazakhstan.
Tokayev thanked the campaign participants and reported that activists would be recognized with state awards ahead of the anniversary of Independence.
"Taza Kazakhstan is not just a nationwide initiative, it is the conscious choice of our people," he said.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that Tokayev, together with young people and eco-activists, planted trees in the Presidential Park and called the formation of ecological culture a task enshrined in the Constitution. According to the Ministry of Ecology, over the entire period of implementation of Taza Kazakhstan, more than 2,000 events were held in the country, over 3.8 million tons of waste were collected, and about 10,000 landfills were eliminated.
