President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that the country needs brave, active and educated leaders who do not shy away from responsibility, as well as citizens capable of real change. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
"The future generation may be understanding of some of our shortcomings. But if we do not complete the reforms and miss the historic opportunity to build a Just Kazakhstan, they will never forgive us," Tokayev said at the first session of the Kurultai.
The head of state also emphasized the need not to be complacent, passive and irresponsible in an era of rapid change. "Otherwise, the country may reach a dead end. The future of the country depends on the diligence, energy and patriotism of every deputy," the president said.
Tokayev noted that the deputies of the Kurultai are qualified specialists who have achieved success in various fields and gained extensive experience. "You are qualified specialists who have achieved success in various positions and gained extensive experience. You have proven yourselves as responsible, caring and initiative citizens. I am confident that you will now work diligently to develop Kazakhstan, using this experience for the benefit of the country," the president said.
