Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul during his working trip to Shanghai. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The head of state noted that Kazakhstan considers Thailand as one of its main partners in Asia. The President highly assessed the prospects for economic integration between the two countries.
In the first four months of this year, trade turnover increased by 76% compared to the same period last year, exceeding $110 million. According to Tokayev, this figure can be further increased. There are particularly great opportunities to increase trade volume through the supply of agricultural products.
The President proposed to intensify ties between the governments of the two countries in order to create favorable conditions for entrepreneurs, the presidential press service reported.
One of the areas that activates cooperation is tourism. Thailand is among the most popular destinations for Kazakh citizens. Last year alone, more than 150 thousand of our compatriots visited this country. The President noted that Kazakhstan can also offer Thai citizens unique opportunities for recreation, including winter tourism services.
Anutin Charnvirakul stated that his country intends to increase interaction on many mutually beneficial issues. According to him, Bangkok considers it necessary to give a new impetus to partnership in the areas of economy, trade, digitalization and tourism.
At the end of the meeting, Tokayev invited the Prime Minister of Thailand to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan.
