President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that a careful attitude toward nature, mutual respect and observance of established rules should become a habitual part of the lives of Kazakhstanis. He said this to participants of the Taza Kazakhstan campaign, Akorda reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
"Moreover, this is already a constitutional obligation," the head of state emphasized, speaking about caring for the environment.
According to Tokayev, American congressmen who recently visited Astana and Almaty positively assessed the cleanliness of the streets and the work of city authorities. The president also noted that foreign tourists post videos on social networks about the tidiness of Kazakhstan's major cities.
He believes that well-maintained and safe public spaces influence the perception of the country abroad. At the same time, Tokayev called improving the living conditions of Kazakhstanis themselves the main goal of such work.
"We must work not for image, but to improve the social well-being of our citizens. This is the main goal," the president said.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that Tokayev proposed developing a national standard of cleanliness and instructed akims to study the experience of the capital's Center for Urbanism, which takes into account residents' proposals when developing urban environment projects.
