Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the sidelines of the SCO summit. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, Tokayev informed Aliyev about large-scale political reforms in Kazakhstan and the results of the first single-chamber Kurultai elections. The President thanked Ilham Aliyev for his warm words regarding the Kurultai elections, as well as for the activity of Azerbaijani representatives in the observer mission.

"In the history of our country, these elections for the first time received a unanimous positive assessment from international organizations. The Kurultai intends to work actively with the Azerbaijani Parliament - Milli Majlis. For my part, I fully support cooperation in this direction," the President said.

Ilham Aliyev noted the scale and significance of the reforms being carried out in Kazakhstan. The Azerbaijani President stated his intention to further strengthen comprehensive cooperation between the countries.

"Indeed, our relations are successfully developing and have acquired an allied character. Every day they are filled with concrete content. The successful holding of the Kurultai elections and the support of the people of Kazakhstan show that your reforms and initiatives are correctly perceived by society," Ilham Aliyev said.

During the conversation, issues of trade, economic and investment cooperation were considered, as well as the progress of joint projects in such areas as transport, logistics, energy and digitalization. At the end of the meeting, the parties discussed the schedule of upcoming international events.
