President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has congratulated Kazakhstan's national team on becoming the winner of the Fencing World Cup stage held in Casablanca. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
This was announced by the press secretary of the President of Kazakhstan, Aibek Smadiyarov. As a result of this victory, our athletes have climbed to first place in the International Fencing Federation (FIE) ranking for the first time.
"Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed his wish that the athletes continue to raise Kazakhstan's blue flag at the world's most prestigious tournaments," Smadiyarov wrote.
Recall that Kazakhstan's men's team won the gold medal at the Fencing World Cup. In the team competition, Kirill Prokhodov, Vadim Sharlaimov, Alexander Fedotov and Kirill Pavlov first defeated Turkey (45:20), then the Hong Kong team (45:28) with a clear advantage.
In the quarterfinals, they overcame the Egyptians with a score of 45:40, and in the semifinals they forced France to capitulate (45:39). In the final, the Kazakh fencers met the Russian team.
The interesting and intense bouts ended with a score of 45:40.
