Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated Elena Rybakina on her victory at the US Open tennis championship, the Akorda press service reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The head of state noted that Rybakina's success confirmed her status as the world's first racket.
"This grandiose success is a vivid confirmation that you were rightly named the world's first racket. You once again demonstrated true professionalism, determination and an impeccable culture of behavior on the court. All of Kazakhstan is proud of your achievements!" the congratulation reads.
Tokayev wished the tennis player new sporting victories and noted that her mastery could become an example for young athletes in Kazakhstan.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that after her victory at US Open-2026, Rybakina achieved two rare statistical feats at once. The Kazakhstani became only the second tennis player since the introduction of the WTA ranking in 1975 to defeat the reigning world No. 1 twice in one season in Grand Slam finals. Previously, only Steffi Graf achieved this in 1995.
In addition, Rybakina became the first tennis player since Australian Open-2012 to defeat two former champions of the same Grand Slam tournament in a row in the semifinal and final. In New York, she defeated Coco Gauff and then Aryna Sabalenka.
In the US Open final, Rybakina defeated Sabalenka with a score of 6:4, 5:7, 6:2. For the Kazakhstani, this title became her third at Grand Slam tournaments after Wimbledon-2022 and Australian Open-2026.
