President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev presented the leader of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, with Kazakhstan's state award — the Order of Qoja Ahmet Yasaui. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

At the ceremony in Astana, Tokayev noted Rahmon's contribution to strengthening the union of the two countries, preserving cultural heritage and maintaining peace in Central Asia.

"I consider this award as another confirmation of the high level of mutual respect and trust between our states," Rahmon said.

He added that he perceives the order as recognition of the contribution of the entire Tajik people to relations with Kazakhstan.

The order was established in March 2026. It is awarded for contribution to the development of science and culture of Kazakhstan and for merits in state and public activity.

The first holder of the order in May was the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. At that time, Tokayev noted his contribution to cooperation among Turkic countries.

Earlier, Kursiv reported how Emomali Rahmon was welcomed at the Akorda. Before the talks, an honor guard was lined up in his honor, and helicopters flew with the flags of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan. At the meeting, the presidents discussed trade between the two countries. In the first nine months of 2026, their trade turnover reached $1.13 billion.
