Kazakhstan's president has dismissed the chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, a deputy defense minister and the commander-in-chief of the Navy, the Akorda reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Kanysh Abubakirov was relieved of his post as first deputy defense minister — chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan.
Almaz Dzhumakeev was relieved of his post as deputy defense minister.
Kanat Niyazbekov was relieved of his post as commander-in-chief of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan.
The corresponding decisions were formalized by orders of the head of state.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that Tokayev dismissed Dauran Kosanov from the post of defense minister amid the deaths of 14 servicemen during exercises on the Caspian Sea on September 24. A criminal case is being investigated over negligence and violation of navigation rules. The president also created a commission for a comprehensive inspection of the state of affairs at the Defense Ministry.
