Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed increasing flights between the two countries during the XXII Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan, held in Omsk. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The President proposed opening direct air links between Astana and Russian cities bordering Kazakhstan with a population of over 500,000. He also proposed naming the joint program to increase air traffic "500+".

Tokayev noted that Russian tourists rank first in number in Kazakhstan. "I also consider the creation of joint cross-border tourist routes promising," the president emphasized.
