Kazakhstan supplies about 13% of the oil imported by the European Union and 20% of uranium deliveries. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
This was announced in an article by Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Handelsblatt as part of his visit to Germany.
"We will continue to fulfill this role (as a reliable supplier of energy resources) within the existing transport capabilities," the president added.
Tokayev also noted that Kazakhstan produces 21 of the 34 types of raw materials that are strategically important for Europe, including lithium, silicon, cobalt and tungsten.
"We propose to Germany not only reliable supplies of raw materials, but also the formation of joint production chains covering stages from geological exploration and extraction to processing, component manufacturing and recycling," the president said.
Tokayev also stated that about 85% of overland freight transit from China to Europe passes through Kazakhstan (in 2025 this amounted to about 40 million tonnes).
The president said that in 2026 the volume of transportation along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route increased by 22%, while transit from Asia to Europe grew by 55%.
Tokayev arrived in Germany on an official visit.
