A meeting between President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and World Customs Organization (WCO) Secretary General Ian Saunders took place at the Akorda residence. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that cooperation with the World Customs Organization plays an important role in improving the country's customs legislation and increasing the efficiency of customs administration.
The President emphasized that Kazakhstan is making significant efforts to strengthen transport links in Eurasia and create favorable conditions for cargo transportation. He also stated that the country is consistently developing the 'smart border' model, widely using digital solutions to optimize customs procedures.
Ian Saunders highly appreciated the dynamics of relations between the WCO and Kazakhstan, noting the country's significant achievements in improving customs administration, introducing modern digital solutions, and strengthening the institutional capacity of relevant authorities.
The parties confirmed their commitment to further strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation, which has been successfully developing for over 30 years. Additionally, they exchanged views on challenges and processes in global trade, with special attention to prospects for expanding trade and economic ties and enhancing the transport and logistics potential of the Central Asian region.
