President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed creating a Kazakh-German investment and financial platform at a meeting with heads of German economic associations and financial institutions, Akorda reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Purpose of the platform
According to Tokayev, such a platform would combine capital from Europe and Germany with mechanisms of co-financing, guarantees and joint risk-taking on the Kazakh side. The Baiterek holding will ensure the structuring of target projects.
German financial institutions
Tokayev noted that among the international financial organizations operating in Kazakhstan, he welcomes the presence of German institutions engaged in export crediting and investment insurance.
Energy and industry
In addition, the modernization of the energy and industrial sector, including the development of renewable energy and green hydrogen projects, is highly relevant. The European Investment Bank and the Development Bank of Kazakhstan, with the participation of German capital, can build mutually beneficial cooperation in all these areas.
Digital innovation and artificial intelligence
Another priority named was establishing partnership between Kazakhstan and Germany in the field of digital innovation and artificial intelligence. "We invite German companies to direct their potential to the areas of data processing centers, energy efficiency technologies, cloud infrastructure and cybersecurity," the head of state said.
Financial technologies
Another promising area is financial technologies. Kazakhstan has a highly developed digital financial ecosystem. "Within its framework, we can first offer advanced payment systems and tokenization technology to the domestic market, and then spread it across the entire region," Tokayev said.
Alatau City
According to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, an important area of cooperation that broadly attracts the German financial sector into Kazakhstan's economy is the city of Alatau City. "Central Asia's first smart city was designed from the outset in compliance with all the requirements of the digital era. It can become a bridge connecting German capital and Kazakhstan's investment opportunities. I am confident that Alatau City will turn into a new center attracting talent, technology and business from across Eurasia," the president said.
