President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin on Russia Day. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to the press service of Akorda, in his congratulatory telegram, the head of state noted that Kazakhstan values its relations of friendship and good neighborliness with Russia, which are progressively developing in the spirit of strategic partnership and alliance.

Your recent state visit to Kazakhstan was of particular importance, the results of which opened new horizons for mutually beneficial cooperation and gave a powerful impetus to the implementation of large-scale projects and initiatives. I am confident that through joint efforts, interstate ties between Kazakhstan and Russia will continue to dynamically develop in all spheres," the telegram reads.

Tokayev also wished Putin further success in his state activities aimed at the well-being and prosperity of Russia.

Vladimir Putin paid a state visit to Kazakhstan on May 27-29, 2026, at the invitation of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The heads of state held talks in Astana. Kursiv previously reported on this in detail.

Diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Russia were established in 1992. Trade and economic cooperation between the two countries is constantly developing. In 2025, bilateral trade turnover exceeded $30 billion. Russia is one of Kazakhstan's largest trading partners.

Within the framework of strategic partnership, the two countries are implementing joint projects in energy, transport, industry, and agriculture. Cultural and humanitarian ties are also actively developing. Over 3 million Kazakhstani citizens live in Russia, and about 2 million Russians live in Kazakhstan.

During Putin's state visit to Kazakhstan, a wide range of bilateral issues were discussed, including trade and economic cooperation, investment projects, and interaction in energy and transport. A number of documents were signed following the visit.

The congratulation from the President of Kazakhstan demonstrates the high level of friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries. Russia Day is one of the main national holidays of the Russian Federation, celebrated annually on June 12.
