Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev commented on Russian President Vladimir Putin at a press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Tokayev's view on Putin
"President Putin is a statesman, and as the leader of Russia, I believe he is the most optimal political figure both for Central Asia, including Kazakhstan, and for Europe and the whole world," Tokayev said.
He noted that he knows the Russian president well. "I know him very well; he possesses all the qualities needed to govern a large state with a complex history and its own strategic goals," the Kazakh leader said.
The Ukraine issue
Tokayev also thanked Putin for understanding his position on ending the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, heads of state, including the Russian president, support ending military operations in Ukraine.
Talks with Germany
The press conference took place as part of negotiations between Kazakhstan and Germany. According to the information, the presidents of Kazakhstan and Germany held talks in a narrow format.
