Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier held talks in a narrow format. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the Akorda statement, the head of state thanked Frank-Walter Steinmeier for the invitation to visit Germany and for the hospitality shown.
"The President of Kazakhstan drew attention to the fact that Germany is our country's main strategic partner in Europe, while bilateral cooperation is based on mutual trust, respect and common interests," the statement reads.
35 years of diplomatic relations
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev recalled that next year marks 35 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations. Over this period, both countries have achieved significant success in all areas of partnership.
Assessment from the German side
President Frank-Walter Steinmeier conveyed that he highly values Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's contribution to expanding multifaceted cooperation between Astana and Berlin. He expressed confidence that the Kazakh president's visit will give a new impetus to bilateral relations and take them to an entirely new level.
