Tokayev and Putin attend SCO summit in Bishkek

Leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states, including Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Russian President Vladimir Putin, are arriving at the Yrys Ordo congress hall in Bishkek, where official summit events will take place. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

In 2026, the organization celebrates its 25th anniversary. The summit agenda includes a review of the SCO's work and discussion of prospects for its further development.

The organization comprises Belarus, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

The summit is attended by delegations from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Vietnam, Egypt, Laos, Mongolia, Togo, and Turkey, as well as heads of several international organizations, such as the United Nations (UN), the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
