President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq Al Said held talks in a narrow format. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to Akorda, the President expressed respect to the distinguished guest and noted that the Sultan of Oman's first visit to Kazakhstan is an important event.

"Kazakhstanis treat your country with special respect. Many of our citizens travel to Oman. However, there are compatriots who have not seen Muscat and other cities of Oman. If additional direct commercial flights are opened between our countries, mutual visits will undoubtedly intensify significantly. I am aware that within the framework of your visit an important agreement on the Doñğa oil field was signed. This also shows that both sides are interested and ready to advance mutual relations. I consider this our common achievement," said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The Sultan of Oman thanked the head of state for the hospitality.

"Over the past more than thirty years, our relations have significantly progressed and strengthened. Today's meeting will consolidate the achieved results and raise bilateral ties to a new level. Within the framework of the visit, we will sign a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding. With your support, we will establish strong ties in the economic, political and cultural-humanitarian spheres. We are interested in increasing mutual visits between the two countries. Mr. President, I thank you once again for the warm welcome. I think we will meet with you soon in the city of Muscat," said Haitham bin Tariq Al Said.
