Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh on the national Naadam holiday. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
In a telegram, the head of state noted Mongolia's dynamic development under Khurelsukh's leadership. Tokayev also expressed confidence in further strengthening friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation between Kazakhstan and Mongolia, according to the press service of Akorda.
The Kazakh president wished Khurelsukh success in his state activities and the people of Mongolia well-being and prosperity.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump. The heads of state discussed economic cooperation, political interaction, and international security issues, and Tokayev reaffirmed Kazakhstan's position on the inadmissibility of the proliferation of nuclear weapons and enriched uranium.
Naadam is Mongolia's main national holiday, rooted in ancient traditions. It is celebrated annually from July 11 to 13 and features competitions in three core sports: wrestling (bökh), horse racing, and archery. The holiday symbolizes the unity of the Mongolian people and their cultural heritage.
Diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Mongolia were established in 1992. Trade and economic cooperation between the two countries has been steadily developing in recent years. In 2025, bilateral trade turnover reached $150 million. Kazakhstan exports oil products, metal goods, and grain to Mongolia, while importing livestock products and raw materials.
Cultural and humanitarian ties are also growing. Close contacts exist between Kazakhstan and the Kazakh diaspora in Mongolia. Approximately 100,000 Kazakhs live in Mongolia, mainly concentrated in the Bayan-Ölgii region.
Tokayev's congratulatory message reflects the high level of friendly relations between the two countries. Regular dialogue between the presidents contributes to strengthening cooperation in political, economic, and cultural spheres.
It is worth noting that Tokayev has previously congratulated the Mongolian president on the national holiday. In 2024, a similar telegram was sent expressing confidence in the development of bilateral relations.
Kazakhstan's active international stance enhances the country's prestige on the global stage. Recently, Tokayev has held meetings and telephone conversations with leaders from various countries, discussing a wide range of bilateral cooperation issues.
