President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the plenary session of the August conference ordered to review educational materials describing unverified historical data and events. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
"Recently, the government published the results of effective work. More than 700 gross errors were found in school textbooks. It is no exaggeration to say that all this harms the quality of secondary education," Tokayev said.
According to the President, it is necessary to review educational materials containing legends about unverified historical facts and events, telling children about false "heroes" and their "feats". He noted that raising children to be patriotic by spreading false, fabricated information will not lead to anything good and contradicts the conscience of our people.
"We must get rid of the image of an eternally suffering nation. Some of our writers love the word 'sorrow': 'sorrow in my heart, sorrow in my eyes'! Sorrow does not suit youth, young people. Our youth, correctly understanding the history of their people, should look to the future with hope and confidence," the President added.
This instruction is aimed at addressing important issues in the education sector. Now work will be done to improve the quality of textbooks and ensure the accuracy of historical data.
