President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has set specific deadlines for the construction of thermal power plants in Kokshetau, Semey, and Ust-Kamenogorsk. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to Tokayev, Kazakhstan has large coal reserves and this advantage should be used as efficiently as possible. "In the next three years, it is necessary to build three new thermal power plants in Kokshetau, Semey, and Ust-Kamenogorsk. All technologies must meet high environmental standards. These stations must be built. There is a lot of talk, but little concrete work," Tokayev said at a joint session of the parliament chambers.

Earlier, these projects were discussed several times. The government has also calculated the required amount of coal for the three new thermal power plants.
