The Ministry of Transport has unveiled a plan to expand the Kokshetau–Petropavl highway. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev ordered the expansion of the Kokshetau–Petropavl highway in his address yesterday.

According to Deputy Minister of Transport Talgat Lastayev, preparatory work has already begun. "Preparatory work is underway this year on the Kokshetau–Petropavl section. Construction work will begin next year," Lastayev said at today's government meeting.

In addition, construction of one of the major infrastructure projects — the Aral–Caspian highway — will begin in August next year. It is also planned to complete the modernization of 37 automobile checkpoints by the end of 2027.
