Kazakhstan's president has awarded servicemen who survived the Caspian Sea accident, the Akorda reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
By decree of the head of state, a group of servicemen was awarded the "Yerligi Ushin" medal for courage and selflessness shown in the performance of military duty.
Awarded servicemen
- 01Kuandyk Beket Baktybekuly – sailor (rifleman) of military unit 29011;
- 02Temirkhan Akzhol Timuruly – sailor (rifleman) of military unit 29011;
- 03Udalov Nikita Alexandrovich – specialist (sanitary instructor) of military unit 29011.
Circumstances of the accident
Recall that on September 24 a tragic incident occurred in the Mangystau region. During open exercises in the Caspian Sea, 17 servicemen fell into the water, 14 died, three survived.
The day before, a commission was created to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the Ministry of Defense.
Earlier, five officials of the Ministry of Defense were detained in connection with the death of the servicemen.
The president today dismissed Dauren Kosanov from the post of Minister of Defense. Aidos Myrzakhmetov has taken his place.
