Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has stated that raising the population's income should become the main priority of state economic policy. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
To achieve this goal, the head of state demanded stronger efforts to combat inflation, which continues to negatively affect the well-being of Kazakhstanis.
According to the president, in recent years the government has carried out a large-scale revision of the budget and tax systems. However, the results of these changes must be assessed not only by economic indicators but also by how much they improve the material situation of citizens.
Tokayev emphasized that the effectiveness of government bodies is directly linked to the population's standard of living and economic activity.
"Therefore, the main task for us is to increase the population's income. To do this, first of all, it is necessary to systematically fight inflation," the president said.
The head of state also drew attention to the consequences of constant growth in consumer prices. He noted that inflation gradually reduces the purchasing power of the population, even if its impact is not always immediately noticeable.
"Inflation is, figuratively speaking, a silent enemy that day by day undermines the well-being of our citizens," Tokayev emphasized.
The president acknowledged that price growth rates in Kazakhstan have somewhat slowed. Nevertheless, inflation remains at a high level, so the achieved result is not yet sufficient for a significant improvement in the situation.
Tokayev demanded that the government and the National Bank of Kazakhstan strengthen coordination of actions. According to him, curbing price growth and consistently reducing inflation should become one of the most important joint tasks of the two state institutions.
In addition to fighting inflation, the president called for adhering to a balanced budget and tax policy. He emphasized the need to strengthen the country's production potential and create conditions that will allow Kazakh businesses to increase productivity.
