President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in his state-of-the-nation address, summed up the country's key historical milestones, gave an assessment of the acute geopolitical situation in the world and outlined strategic tasks for modernizing the economy and infrastructure. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
At the beginning of his speech, Tokayev recalled that this year the country marks the 35th anniversary of Independence, as well as an important step toward strengthening statehood — the adoption of a new Constitution, which came into force on July 1.
"The Constitution can be called a sacred agreement between several generations. It clearly defines today's image of Kazakhstan and its future. The adoption of the Basic Law gave a powerful impetus to the fundamental modernization of the political system and the creation of new institutions of power," emphasized Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The head of state gave a harsh and realistic assessment of the current global situation, calling it a period of deep uncertainty where risks exceed the scale of the Cold War era.
"At present, unreasonable false accusations and hidden confrontations have intensified among the countries of the world, and a large-scale crisis of mutual trust has arisen between the largest and most influential states," he explained.
Tokayev stated that the historical task of the current generation is to pass on a qualitatively new state to young people. This refers to a geopolitically strong Kazakhstan with advanced technologies, a powerful economy, the rule of law and strong science.
"I am deeply convinced that the historical responsibility to future generations lies not only in leaving them monetary savings in accounts, but also in building and passing on to descendants a qualitatively new country: technologically advanced, with a strong competitive economy, modern infrastructure and high living standards, where every citizen has the opportunity for self-realization," he said.
To achieve these goals, Kazakhstan must turn into a large-scale construction site. The President instructed to promptly complete an audit of the needs of the regions and launch mass construction of healthcare, education, culture and sports facilities across the country.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is delivering his annual address to the people of Kazakhstan on October 28. The live broadcast began at 11:00 on republican television channels and on the official pages of the Akorda in social networks.
