The foundation of the international security architecture has begun to shake. This was stated by the head of state Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the VII CICA summit. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the president, extremely complex and unprecedented processes are taking place in the world that require carefully weighed and thoughtful decisions.

"Ultimately, the foundation of the international security architecture has begun to shake. This is accompanied by a dangerous trend where the rule of law remains in the shadows and the use of force comes to the fore. Last year, the number of armed conflicts in the world exceeded the figure during World War II," Tokayev said.

According to him, the cost of these conflicts is measured not only by statistical data but also by human lives.

"Last year alone, there were 20 armed conflicts, and more than 37,000 civilians died. More than 117 million people became refugees, while 266 million people are starving. This trend has nullified the results of joint political efforts aimed at achieving global stability and security over many years. Therefore, Asia needs stronger institutions. The era of adopting declarations of intent is over," said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The president drew attention to the fact that at the VI summit held in Astana in 2022, the CICA member states agreed to transform the Council into a full-fledged international organization.

"Azerbaijan, which currently chairs the organization, is implementing this mission at a worthy level. We look forward to the adoption of the CICA charter. This will be a roadmap for our future actions," said the head of state.

He noted that Kazakhstan's position on the transformation of CICA is based on previously established commitments.

"The Council, while maintaining its place in Asia, must become an institution open to cooperation with global partners. The organization must promote a security model based on consistent dialogue and constructive consultations in a spirit of mutual trust," the president concluded.

In addition, Tokayev held a meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog in Baku.
