The head of state nominated Koshanov for the position of chairman of the People's Council.
It is worth noting that the People's Council is a supreme consultative body. It has been given the functions of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan and the National Kurultai, and it also has the right to initiate legislation.
Earlier, the composition of the People's Council, consisting of 126 people, was approved. The list did not include former Mazhilis chairman Yerlan Koshanov.
