President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Euronews Chairman Pedro Vargas David. The meeting discussed prospects for expanding cooperation with the media holding. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Tokayev noted that Euronews occupies a special place among global media corporations due to its reputation based on impartial coverage of events.

"Since the opening of a regional office in Astana in 2024, Euronews has been more actively covering the political, economic and cultural life of Kazakhstan and Central Asia," the president emphasized.

Tokayev welcomed the launch of Euronews broadcasting in the Kazakh language, calling it a vivid confirmation of mutually beneficial cooperation.

Pedro Vargas David stated that Kazakh will become the first language of the peoples of Central Asia in the media network's lineup. He also congratulated Kazakhstani people on the adoption of the new Constitution, noting that its principles demonstrate the country's commitment to building a stronger and more progressive state.

The interlocutors discussed the results of Tokayev's recent official visit to Brussels. According to Vargas David, the European audience positively received the theses of the president's article on the prospects of expanded strategic partnership between Astana and the EU, published on Euronews on the eve of the visit.

"According to European experts, relations between the EU and Kazakhstan are on the rise and are acquiring an unprecedented character of long-term fruitful cooperation," the meeting noted.

The sides discussed joint initiatives that will integrate the region into the global information space and more widely present Kazakhstan's achievements to the world community.
