According to the Constitutional Court's ruling, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev may be re-elected for a second term. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

"In accordance with the 1995 Constitution, persons holding positions specified in these constitutional norms may be elected or appointed to the relevant positions after the 2026 Constitution enters into force," the statement said.

Thus, the new Constitution allows the president to run for election again. It should be noted that Tokayev's term expires in the fall of 2029.
