President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the Akorda statement, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that Kazakh-Indian relations are progressing dynamically in many areas.
"Today, about 600 companies with a share of Indian capital are successfully operating in Kazakhstan. Last year, about 150,000 Indian citizens visited our country. Many Indian students are studying in Kazakhstan. We have also established close cooperation within international organizations," said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
For his part, Narendra Modi thanked the head of state for attending the BRICS summit and drew attention to the relevance of the initiatives and proposals put forward by Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
"Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, as Chairman of the EAEU, said that he supports negotiations on creating a free trade zone between the Organization and India and is ready to contribute to promoting it," the statement says.
The leaders discussed specific issues on the bilateral agenda, including ways of cooperation in energy, digitalization, education and tourism.
The parties considered opportunities for developing cooperation between India and the Eurasian Economic Union.
The head of state invited the Prime Minister of India to visit Kazakhstan on a state visit.
