Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has proposed creating a BRICS Plus partnership in the field of artificial intelligence. He put forward the initiative at the plenary session of the association's summit in New Delhi, Akorda reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The project envisages uniting national artificial intelligence centers, providing access to laboratories and scientific developments, as well as creating multilingual solutions.
AI as a Strategic Priority
According to Tokayev, combining the technological capabilities of leading developing economies with the scale of the BRICS countries could create new conditions for innovation, investment and sustainable growth.
"Kazakhstan views artificial intelligence as a strategic priority and is ready to leverage its advanced computing infrastructure, as well as the UN's national and digital centers, to expand effective interaction in the BRICS Plus format," the president said.
Initiative on an International Water Organization
Tokayev also called on the association's participants to join international consultations on creating an International Water Organization. Kazakhstan proposes establishing it as a specialized UN agency.
According to the head of state, water resource management in the world remains fragmented. The new organization should increase the coherence of international efforts and strengthen coordination between countries.
Warning on 'Great Fragmentation'
Concluding his speech, Tokayev stated that multipolarity without effective multilateral cooperation could make the "Great Fragmentation" even more dangerous for humanity. Kazakhstan advocates a multipolar system based on sovereign equality, a balance of interests and shared responsibility.
The president expressed hope that the summit in New Delhi would allow this approach to be advanced through practical cooperation and joint work.

Earlier, Kursiv wrote that at the BRICS Plus summit Tokayev estimated the global economic damage from violence in 2025 at almost $22 trillion, or 10% of global GDP. He also noted that the association's countries represent almost half of the world's population and provide 40% of global GDP.
Kazakhstan has participated in BRICS as a partner country since January 1, 2025. On the eve of the summit, Kazakhstan and India signed framework agreements worth $122 million, and a Kazakh business delegation visited enterprises in Chennai in the fields of robotics, AI, semiconductors and Industry 4.0 technologies.
