President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev chaired a meeting of the Security Council. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

At the meeting, government members reported on the current state of the space industry, ongoing projects, and development prospects. The President emphasized the strategic importance of the sector and paid special attention to ensuring the stable operation of satellite communications and space infrastructure.

Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry Zhaslan Madiyev provided information on the implementation of key projects aimed at developing satellite systems, improving space infrastructure, and introducing applied solutions based on space data for the benefit of the economy and public administration.

According to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the global space sector has fundamentally changed. The era when this industry belonged to a 'closed club' of major powers is over. Today, private companies are actively developing applied areas such as communications, broadcasting, navigation, space monitoring, scientific research, and internet provision.

In addition, issues of advancing space science were considered. The need to support scientific research, including astrophysics, was particularly noted. The progress of the 'Baiterek' project, considered an important stage in strengthening national technological and engineering potential, was positively assessed.

The head of state also touched upon the prospects of international cooperation, emphasizing the need to develop strategic interaction with the Russian Federation and other foreign partners. Attention was paid to improving the social and living conditions of citizens living in the city of Baikonur and adjacent areas.

The President gave the government a number of specific instructions aimed at modernizing the space industry and effectively using its potential in the interests of the state.
