Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated Kazakhs on Astana Day, the Akorda press service reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
"Astana is the heart of our sovereign country. Our capital is a symbol of independent Kazakhstan, a source of creative energy of our nation striving for a bright future. Decisions that directly affect the fate of our people are made in this city. The main city has become a driving force of large-scale historical changes. Astana has gained the status of a 'smart city' with qualitatively new management systems introduced," the president said.
The head of state noted that parks, flower beds, and children's playgrounds are being built in the capital, all for the residents and guests of Astana.
"On the eve of the Capital Day, the People's Constitution came into force, opening a period of fundamental change in the nation's history. In fact, this historic event is considered the beginning of the modernization of the main institutions of power and society," Tokayev said.
According to the president, the new constitutional law on the status of the capital strengthened Astana's role as a political, administrative, economic, and cultural center, defining its special importance in the development of the state.
"The international prestige of the main city is also strengthening. The adoption of decisions in Astana on the most pressing issues of regional and global policy is clear evidence of this. Our main city should become a vivid manifestation of a new social ethics based on a responsible civic stance, 'Law and Order', and the principles of 'Clean Kazakhstan'," the head of state said.
Tokayev expressed confidence that the capital will continue to set an example on the path to building a Just Kazakhstan and prosper, wishing the residents of Astana and all Kazakhs well-being and success.
