Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received a delegation of the US House of Representatives. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The head of state drew the guests' attention to the symbolic significance of their visit coinciding with the elections to the unicameral Kurultai and briefed the American delegation on the large-scale political and socio-economic reforms underway in the country.

The President familiarized the Congress members with the key aspects of the new Constitution, which received nationwide support.

Furthermore, the head of state noted the dynamic development of multifaceted Kazakh-American partnership and stated that thanks to constructive and trust-based dialogue with President Donald Trump, bilateral relations have reached an unprecedented level.

Congressman Jason Smith, who led the American delegation, thanked Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the special reception and conveyed greetings from the US President. He said he had spoken with Trump by phone before meeting Tokayev.

"The President said he expects you in Miami to participate in the G20 summit. One of the goals of our visit is to explore opportunities for further expanding economic ties between the United States and Kazakhstan. We are committed to a substantive dialogue to strengthen bilateral cooperation. Our President attaches particular importance to this," said Jason Smith.

At the end of the meeting, the head of state expressed confidence that his upcoming visit to Miami would give new impetus to the expanded strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and the United States.
