At the first session of the "Qazaqstan Khalyq Kenesi", President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev commented on issues raised by ethnocultural associations after the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan (ANC) completed its work. The President assured that the accumulated experience and groundwork of the structure will continue to function within the new body. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
"The ANC has indeed completed its work, but this does not mean that the useful institutional infrastructure it created will be unclaimed. I want to assure you: the unique experience of the ANC is relevant, it will never be forgotten, and will be used in the work of the Khalyq Kenesi," emphasized the Head of State.
The Head of State noted that strengthening unity remains a matter of exceptional importance, and support for ethnocultural centers, theaters and media is a constitutional duty of the state. Tokayev added that the historical role of the Assembly is not diminished, and the strengthening of the institution is taking place at a new political level.
The President paid special attention to cultural heritage and initiatives of patrons. As an example, he cited Semey, where reconstruction of the literary-memorial museum of Fyodor Dostoevsky has begun at the expense of sponsorship funds.
"In my opinion, a careful attitude to our common cultural heritage is acquiring critically important significance. Such heritage should not have state borders," noted the President.
In addition, Tokayev called for developing the institution of mediation to prevent conflicts and to give impetus to youth, sports and volunteer organizations.
Earlier, "Kursiv" wrote that Tokayev explained why he chose exactly this name for the new body and what its main goal is.
