President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Ibrahim Janlyel, the Chief Executive Officer of Air Astana. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, the head of state was briefed on the operational and financial performance of Air Astana, which holds a leading position in Central Asia and the Caucasus.

Tokayev drew attention to issues that are constantly criticized by passengers, such as flight delays and aircraft changes, and called for the development of air transportation to countries frequently traveled by Kazakhstanis.

The President emphasized the importance of effectively implementing strategic goals, including replenishing the fleet, expanding the route network, and strengthening transport capacity. He also prioritized organizing direct air services with the United States and Japan.

It was reported that Air Astana plans to replenish its fleet with new Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft in 2026-2027. The company has placed orders for 50 Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft and 15 Boeing 787-9 aircraft. They will be delivered by 2036.

Ibrahim Janlyel presented the President with the company's long-term development strategy. This document is aimed at strengthening Kazakhstan's position as a regional aviation hub and expanding the company's operations internationally. Air Astana plans to increase the number of destinations, develop multimodal transportation, and increase flight frequency. Special attention is paid to digitalization and the introduction of new technologies.
