According to a statement from the Akorda, by order of the head of state, a national day of mourning has been declared in the Republic of Kazakhstan on September 25, 2026, in connection with the deaths of service members while performing their official duties in the Mangystau region.
Recall that an emergency occurred during exercises in the Mangystau region, and 9 people died.
According to preliminary information, on September 24, due to a sharp deterioration in weather and strengthening winds, a wave swept away 19 service members in the Caspian Sea. It has currently been established that 9 of them died.
Three service members were rescued, one of whom was hospitalized. Searches for the others are ongoing.
By order of the prime minister, a government commission has been established to investigate the causes of the tragic incident.
