President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a decree "On the Powers of the Vice President of the Republic of Kazakhstan" on September 5. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the document, the vice president will prepare strategic initiatives for the head of state in the field of domestic and foreign policy. On the president's instructions, he will be able to represent him in interaction with the Kurultai, the Government, other state bodies, political parties, public associations and international organizations.
The vice president will also be able to participate in international events on Tokayev's instructions.
The vice president will head the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions and will oversee the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the president.
His area of responsibility will also include the work of several commissions and councils. These include commissions on state awards and citizenship, state symbols, training of personnel abroad, as well as commissions on awarding state prizes in the fields of science, literature and art. In addition, the vice president will ensure the activities of the Council on Youth Policy.
To carry out his tasks, the vice president will be able to issue orders and give instructions to central and local executive bodies on matters within his competence.
He will also be able to participate in meetings of the Kurultai, the Government, the Qazaqstan Halyq Kenesi and advisory bodies under the president.
In addition, the vice president will have the right to request necessary documents and information from state bodies and officials, as well as to create interdepartmental working groups.
The Presidential Administration will provide organizational and informational support for the vice president's work.
