President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received the new ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Abylkair Skakov, and outlined priorities for his work. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The head of state instructed to develop cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in transport and transit, energy, water, and agricultural sectors, as well as in digitalization.

During the meeting, Tokayev emphasized the importance of further strengthening friendship, good neighborliness, strategic partnership, and allied relations between the two countries.

Special attention was paid to the development of cultural and humanitarian ties.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev discussed with the Deputy Chairman – Head of the Secretariat of the Qazaqstan Halyk Kenesi Kanatbek Zhaisanbayev the creation of a new structure and the formation of its apparatus. The head of state instructed to ensure coordination of the Halyk Kenesi's work with state bodies, NGOs, civil society institutions, and international partners, as well as to prepare the first session of the platform.

Ambassador Skakov is expected to begin his diplomatic mission and take concrete steps aimed at developing bilateral relations with Kyrgyzstan. Among the priority tasks are expanding trade and economic cooperation, promoting investment projects, and enhancing cultural exchanges.

It is worth noting that Abylkair Skakov is an experienced diplomat who previously held responsible positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan. His work in Kyrgyzstan is aimed at raising strategic partnership between the two countries to a new level.

Within the framework of Tokayev's instructions, Skakov is expected to pay special attention to the development of cooperation in the transport and transit sector. In particular, issues of improving the efficiency of railway and road routes between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, expanding transit potential will be considered.

In the energy sector, the countries will continue work on electricity exchange, development of renewable energy sources, and implementation of joint projects in the fuel and energy complex. Issues of joint water resource management, use of transboundary rivers will also be in focus.

In the agricultural sector, cooperation will continue in the areas of increasing trade in agricultural products, creating joint ventures in the agro-industrial complex, and ensuring veterinary safety.

In the field of digitalization, exchange of experience in e-government, IT technologies, and cybersecurity, implementation of joint projects are envisaged.

Within the framework of strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties, it is planned to develop cooperation in education, science, sports, and tourism, expand youth exchange programs.

Diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan were established in 1992. The two countries are important strategic partners in Central Asia and closely cooperate within international organizations, including the Eurasian Economic Union, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Tokayev's instructions demonstrate the priority of strengthening relations with neighboring countries in Kazakhstan's foreign policy. Deepening cooperation with Kyrgyzstan is expected to contribute to regional stability and economic development.
