President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Marshal of the Polish Senate Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska at the Akorda. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The sides discussed the development of political dialogue and the expansion of cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.
During the meeting, Tokayev noted that Kazakhstan attaches great importance to strengthening relations with Poland.
"Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between our states, truly friendly ties have developed, and inter-parliamentary dialogue has been progressing systematically and very successfully," the head of state emphasized.
Separately, they discussed expanding interaction between legislative bodies and developing political and humanitarian ties.
The interlocutors also touched upon the historical ties between the two peoples. The President of Kazakhstan recalled the contribution of Polish ethnographer Adolf Januszkiewicz to the study of Kazakh history, life, and culture.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev conveyed warm words to Polish President Karol Nawrocki and Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
Marshal of the Senate Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska thanked the president for the reception and noted the significance of the visit. She recalled that the trip coincides with the 90th anniversary of the deportation of Poles, who at the time received support from Kazakhstani people.
"We have not only a common historical past but also great prospects for the future. It is important for us to develop cooperation with Kazakhstan as one of the key countries in the region," she said.
Earlier, Kursiv reported on the release of a Kazakh diplomat — assistant military attaché of the Kazakh embassy in Ukraine Anuar Bakibay, who was detained on espionage charges in Poland. As noted by the press secretary of the head of state, Aibek Smadiyarov, the release was made possible thanks to the personal efforts of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
