President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, together with the leaders of Central Asian countries, took part in the opening ceremony of the UIM F1H2O World Championship stage on Issyk-Kul. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Before the start of the competition, Tokayev and the presidents of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan talked with the pilots and wished them a successful performance. The heads of state were also shown a racing car.
Then the leaders simultaneously launched a symbolic mechanism, giving the official start to the championship stage — the "Grand Prix Kyrgyz Republic — Issyk-Kul 2026".
The competition involves eight teams and 18 pilots from the UAE, Australia, Canada, and other countries.
The championship stage is held in Kyrgyzstan for the first time. Akorda noted that it will become one of the largest international sports and cultural events in the history of the republic.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in the opening of the five-star hotel Baku Resort & Spa on the shore of Issyk-Kul. The complex with an area of 17.2 hectares includes more than 120 rooms, cottages, a congress hall, a wellness center, a water park, and sports and entertainment infrastructure.
