In the first half of this year, 13 major state audits totaling 5.8 trillion tenge were conducted. Chairman of the Supreme Audit Chamber Alikhan Smailov reported this to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Akorda press service reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The inspections covered local executive bodies of certain regions, joint-stock companies "Problem Loan Fund", "Agrarian Corporation", "Kazpost", "Aktau Sea Port", healthcare infrastructure, and a number of state agencies.

The President was informed that as a result of eliminating identified deficiencies, 128 billion tenge were returned to the state budget. The government and audit objects received 35 recommendations and 413 instructions, the statement said.

According to Smailov, a number of changes were made to national legislation at the initiative of the Supreme Audit Chamber. In particular, a new rule for forming macroeconomic forecasts was adopted, treasury control over the spending of state funds was strengthened, and amendments to the budget in the fourth quarter were banned.

According to Smailov's report, 20 state audits are planned to be completed in the second half of the year. Four of them were initiated by direct order of the head of state. Inspections will be conducted in Shymkent city, Karaganda and East Kazakhstan regions, as well as mechanisms to support pharmaceutical producers.

Also, the gas and investment sectors, the activities of JSC "Zhasyl Damu", JSC "NC "KazAvtoZhol", certain national projects, the "Aul – el besigi" project, and other areas will be audited. "Within the framework of interaction with the new Kurultai, the draft republican budget for 2027-2029 will be evaluated," the statement said.

At the end of the meeting, the President gave a number of instructions to improve the state audit system, prioritizing the introduction of modern digital solutions and artificial intelligence technologies.
