CIS countries have called for the persecution and extermination of civilians by Nazis and their accomplices to be recognized as genocide of the peoples of the Soviet Union. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

This is stated in a declaration dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the Commonwealth, signed by the leaders at the summit in Turkmenistan.

The declaration also emphasized the importance of preserving the memory of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and countering the falsification of history and the glorification of Nazism.

Another point of the declaration is the formation of a new security architecture in Eurasia based on the UN Charter and international law.

In addition, the member countries of the organization intend to strengthen political, economic, technological and cultural ties.

It was previously reported that the CIS countries declared 2028 the Year of Social Development and Quality of Life.
